授業意図 Field work is a one of the research methods for understanding human culture from the viewpoint of everyday life. During field work, we visit certain place (="field") to know structures of life, society, and specific value or thoughts, by sharing times and spaces with people there. Noto peninsula is widely known for its unique traditional cultures. In this course, students will conduct fieldwork to understand Noto culture and its contemporary meanings. We will observe both nature and society there, interview with people, and participate in events such as festivals to grasp their culture from own experience. Also, we will consider further questions about roles of outsiders including researchers for community maintenance.
科目の具体目標 1. To understand local culture by participant observation.
2. To be able to introduce local culture in English, with consideration of its effect in comtemporary social context.
3. To understand present conditon and future issues about relationship between university and field.
履修条件 * Students should take Field Research Practice before taking this course.

留意事項 * This class is conducted in English, but in field research we use Japanese.
* Schedule for the research is determined in the class. (Guidance of this course will be held during 2nd quarter)
